# Why is my VilaVPN connection slow or unstable?

Compare the same task with and without VilaVPN, then try **Auto Select**. Record
the platform, app version, network type and selected server so the comparison is
useful.

1. Choose one repeatable task, such as loading the same HTTPS website or playing
   the same content.
2. While connected, record the selected server, network type and what happens.
3. Disconnect VilaNet and repeat the same task on the same network.
4. Return to VilaNet, open **Server Nodes**, and choose **Auto Select**.
5. Reconnect and repeat the task once more.
6. Note whether the issue is constant, intermittent, or tied to one server or
   network.
7. If it continues, collect [diagnostics](/en/common-tasks/diagnostics/) without
   repeatedly switching settings.

One speed test alone does not distinguish a VilaNet issue from a device,
website, Wi-Fi or internet-provider issue.

## Success check

The repeatable task works reliably with **Auto Select**, ordinary websites load,
and VilaNet remains connected.

## Match the result to the next step

- **The task is also slow while disconnected:** troubleshoot the device,
  network or service before changing VilaNet.
- **Only one server is affected:** use **Auto Select** and include the affected
  server in your support details.
- **Only one website or streaming service is affected:** record the service,
  content and exact error; compare it while disconnected.
- **The connection repeatedly drops or remains slow:** follow
  [Contact support](/en/troubleshooting/contact-support/) with the comparison and redacted
  diagnostics.
