# How do I confirm VilaVPN is working?

A **Connected** status is only the first check. Confirm that ordinary websites
load and that the app remains connected without an immediate error.

1. Confirm VilaNet shows **Connected**.
2. Note whether you selected **Auto Select** or a specific server.
3. Open a new browser tab and load two familiar HTTPS websites.
4. Return to VilaNet and confirm the status is still **Connected**.
5. If you chose a specific location for a supported task, verify the task itself
   rather than relying only on an IP-check website.

An IP-check website can be a secondary clue, but it is not the only success
test. Some browsers, extensions and private-relay features can affect the IP
they display.

## Success check

The app remains **Connected** and ordinary internet traffic works. If VilaNet
says **Connected** but pages do not load, follow
[Connected but no internet](/en/troubleshooting/connected-but-no-internet/).

## If the status changes back

Record the final status and the first visible error. Confirm the device can
reach the internet with VilaNet disconnected, then try **Auto Select** once.
Preserve diagnostics before reinstalling or changing advanced settings.
