# How do I install and connect VilaNet on Apple TV?

Install the official VilaNet app from the App Store on Apple TV, sign in with
your VilaVPN account, choose a server and approve Apple's VPN permission when
you connect for the first time.

VilaNet for Apple TV is a native tvOS app with **Home**, **Servers** and
**Settings** sections. These instructions apply to version 1.2.8 (build 2) on
tvOS 17 or later. Store visibility, Siri Remote focus order and the final VPN
connection still require verification on a physical Apple TV before this page
is published.

## Before you begin

You need:

- an Apple TV running tvOS 17 or later;
- an internet connection;
- an active VilaVPN subscription; and
- the email address and password for your VilaVPN account.

Never enter your VilaVPN password into an unofficial app or a website opened
from an unexpected message.

## 1. Download VilaNet

1. From the Apple TV Home Screen, open **App Store**.
2. Select **Search**, then search for `VilaNet`.
3. Open the official VilaNet listing and confirm that its name and branding
   match VilaVPN.
4. Select **Get** or the download icon.
5. Wait for installation to finish, then select **Open**.

The Apple TV App Store is the canonical installation source. If you cannot find
VilaNet, first update tvOS under **Settings > System > Software Updates** and
search again. Do not sideload a copy obtained from an unknown source.

## 2. Sign in

When the login screen opens, the initial focus should be on the email field.
Use the Siri Remote to move focus and select controls.

1. Enter your VilaVPN account email address in **E-mail**.
2. Enter your account password in **Password**.
3. Review the linked EULA and Privacy Policy.
4. Select the agreement checkbox if it is not already selected.
5. Select **Login**.

### Sign-in success check

The app opens its main interface and you can move between **Home**,
**Servers** and **Settings**. If VilaNet reports that the package is expired or
inactive, renew the subscription before trying to connect.

## 3. Choose a server and connect

1. Open **Servers**.
2. Move through the server list with the Siri Remote.
3. Select the server you want to use.
4. VilaNet returns to the connection flow and starts connecting to the selected
   server automatically.
5. The first time you connect, tvOS displays a system request to add a VPN
configuration. Review it and select **Allow**.
6. Wait for **Home** to show the connected state.

Selecting a server initiates the connection; you do not need to paste a
subscription URL into VilaNet.

## Confirm that it worked

A successful first connection has all of these signs:

- **Home** shows VilaNet as connected;
- the selected server is shown in the app; and
- Apple TV continues to load content over the network.

Do not treat a simulator screenshot as proof of a working VPN tunnel. The final
connected screenshot and this success check must be verified on physical
hardware.

## Disconnect or change server

- To disconnect, return to **Home** and select the connection control.
- To change server, open **Servers** and select another server. VilaNet begins
connecting to the newly selected server.
- Use **Settings** for the app's available preferences and support information.

## If you cannot install, sign in or connect

- **The app is missing from search:** confirm that tvOS is version 17 or later
and that the Apple ID's App Store region can access VilaNet.
- **Remote focus appears stuck:** press **Menu/Back** once, return to the screen
and move focus again. Do not repeatedly submit the login form.
- **Login fails:** re-enter the full email address and password, confirm the
subscription is active and preserve the exact error message.
- **The VPN permission was denied:** reconnect and approve the tvOS system VPN
request. VilaNet cannot establish the tunnel without this permission.
- **It connects but content does not load:** disconnect, select a different
server and connect again. Then continue to
  [Connected but no internet](/en/troubleshooting/connected-but-no-internet/).
- **It still cannot connect:** continue to
  [Cannot connect](/en/troubleshooting/cannot-connect/).

When contacting support, include the Apple TV model, tvOS version, VilaNet
version and the exact error text. Never send your password.
